Poland issues harsh statement: "If Russian planes violate our airspace, we will shoot them down."

Increasing Russian airspace violations in the Baltic region have alarmed NATO countries. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski issued stern warnings against Russia in a speech to the United Nations Security Council.
Sikorski stated that any Russian planes or missiles violating Polish airspace would be shot down without hesitation, and used the following statements:
"If a missile or aircraft enters our airspace without permission, whether intentionally or accidentally, and is shot down and the wreckage falls on NATO territory, please don't come whining about it. You've been warned."
Poland's Foreign Minister told an emergency UN Security Council session following Russia's violation of Estonian airspace that Moscow was trying to destabilize the West with "hybrid warfare" methods.
Sikorski also recalled Russia's role in two world wars and the start of the Cold War, emphasizing that the Moscow administration was driven by an "endless desire for domination" and that tensions would not ease until this understanding ended.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also reiterated in his statement this morning that his country would strike any element violating its airspace.
NATO countries have been on high alert following recent violations of Estonian, Romanian, and Polish airspace by Russian aircraft in the Baltic region. On September 19, NATO intervened to intervene in the Russian jets that violated Estonian airspace.
